Imagine the scoring system at the time lel 😂
Yeah, if there is a crowd of them all firing at once and the celluloid film might burst into flames at any moment :D I guess the bullets must have had their signatures on. Probably didn't catch on too well because of the risk of it catching fire etc
👍
Thank you for your support!
Actually they should invent a word meaning sort of mental problem being stubborn NOT to see faces in rocks, these seconds in this video clearly are faces carved on purpose on mountains in ancient time 2:51 , 2:53 , 2:55 , 2:57 , 0:37 , 1:49 , 2:06 ( actually they are 2 faces ) , . Not only this , also these huge faces carved on mountains are signs that in very ancient times there were advanced civilizations able to carve thse things on huge mountains!!

What about pareidolia? Like that infamous example of what appears to be demonic faces showing up in smoke plumes from the World Trade Center when a bunch of jackasses kamikaze'd the towers back in 2001.
Yeah, pareidolia is a fascinating subject as well. I'm sure that's how art started, piggy backing on existing phenomena. Jamais vu is fun as well. It reminds me of when you revise for exams so much that the familiar starts to become unfamiliar.
@@creamofcardstvAnd it's not just visually, as in the case of supposedly backmasked messages in popular music.

The palace reminds of a place in the United States in Lucas Kansas, called the "Garden of Eden". It was constructed in the early 1900s by a civil war veteran, its a menagerie of bizarre concrete and concrete-covered structures. Really quite the sight! Although, not to the scale of this palace
Thank you for sharing that! I'll look it up
Those Red Postal boxes have a lot of history to them.....They the Kings stamp on them.....
They're so ubiquitous here in the UK that most Brits don't even notice they're there, hiding in plain sight. I'm ashamed to say that even included me up until recently. Yes, I discovered that they've got a wealth of information on them that gives away their age. We have some dating back to Victorian times in neighbouring towns and villages. I hope they don't go the same way as our iconic red phone boxes, which have all but disappeared from our streets. Often we don't notice something until it's gone.
... ok, дякую! very original presentation of material ✨💫💥💯💥💫✨ like на підтримку! 2 💙💛

1913 this is a very early set! I love the florence lawrence and max linder card in it! Considered the 1st movie stars. Perhaps if you have them you show them as well?
Film dates back much earlier but the film studios didn't promote the names of the actors who weren't already famous in their own right, probably economic reasons. Notice that early film posters don't feature the names of the actors, unless they were already famous by some other means. I have got some lobbly/trade cards from 1911. There is a bit of debate about who was the first true film star, famous through film alone. Some say it was Max Linder and others, Florence Lawrence. Yeah, the rise of the film icon is an fascinating subject since people have a tendency of mimicking their role models.
Going private watch out🧐
I thought I'd film them before they disappear, like most of the red phone boxes have already. It's only a matter of time before they do some more cost-cutting and sell them off.
Technically, a meme is anything that can be copied from one mind to another. In this sense, they pretty much predate humans - think "Monkey see, monkey do". Or, if we consider "history" to exclude prehistory, the first meme would be the first instance of written language.
True, probably even predates the monkeys as well. I think the early 1900s postcard phenomenon definitely took the meme to the next level though. It was cheap, relatively quick to send globally and combined mass production, cottage industry and user generated content all in one. Much of the earlier media was only available to upper echelons of society, having a much more limited impact. Even people with a limited Sunday school education could send a postcard with a preprinted message on it.
Penfold boxes from Queen Victoria and the ones after are really interesting as well. If they would strip them of their paint and refinish them they would last forever. See the details on them better
There's one in the neighbouring town of Folkestone that's quite nice. Unfortunately, I don't think there are any in Hythe itself. I've seen a Victorian wall box out on the Romney Marsh. It's fun looking out for those details when I'm out on walks, plus ghost signs and shop doorway mosaics are interesting to.
Nice Nick 👌

The Golden Age of Cinema is always interesting .....one can learn alot by it's study......
Yeah, it played a significant role in shaping our society. It's sad that a lot of the films from that time haven't survived.
There's some grim truth to his struggle. When you make a living walking, even a pebble can quickly ruin your day or week.
Yeah, it's quite inspiring how he was able to turn a negative event and mundane life into an opportunity.
Always amazing what you're finding. But also a evidence that back in these old days there were some really creative people around.
Yeah, they were very innovative and I think the postcard format provided the right balance of cheap, mass produced items with user generated content to make the creative ecosystem flourish.
Great presentation!
Thank you Bob!

That is a very retro looking pocket screen....... the hoverboard to the stars depiction is very dreamlike .......
That mechanical animation concept was used in a series of children's books a few years ago. It's difficult to tell whether she is on a hoverboard :D
Well done, I love this era of music and you've done it justice.
Thank you! I loved collecting the confectionery cards and the colourful tin foil seems to sum up the carefree attitude.
History of imagination , Nice Vedio 👌🏻💯😅
Thank you!
Do you happen to have old postcards from Quebec or Montreal?
I don't think so. I've got quite a few fantasy cards from the USA, but my cards mainly seem to be French and Belgian, with a few German, Italian and Scandinavian ones.
Ear candling much?
It's enough to give you nightmares. Looks quite painful :D
So all those postcards were done by Outsider Artist Ferdenand Chal...?That is an interesting castle made of found stones.....
Ferdinand built a palace out of stones he collected together from his postal round. It became such a popular French tourist attraction that many postcards were issued featuring it, and sometimes the man himself. He became quite famous as a result. Apparently, the early Surrealists knew about him. You can still visit the place today. I think he's classified as an outsider artist because he didn't have any technical training.
I have the beach one on the right, I spent hours rearranging it as a kid, highly enjoyable 🪼
I love the concept.
Thank you for putting up a moon related postcard video Leon....:) Those postcards are very wonderful trips of the imagination......Very beautiful and dreamlike......
Yeah, not exactly scientifically accurate :D but I'm sure they played an important role in popularising the notion of space travel and inspiring future generations.
It's amazing that they can make the landscape seemless and fit the scene no matter what part of the beachside is added......
Yeah, it must take ages. It's hard enough drawing/painting pictures let alone making the parts fit together seamlessly infinitely many times. I like the concept. I'm a bit lazy, but you can use the cards to create stories, or perhaps songs. It reminds me of the cut-up technique, where you randomly put words together to see if they have any meaning. They'd probably disapprove at my mother's old church :D Quite a few rock stars used that technique: John Lennon, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Kurt Cobain and probably many more. The combinations are not always seamless though but they can hint at interesting ideas and avenues of future exploration. I tried to do something similiar with alphabetti spaghetti :D I use the numbers on store receipts as random year generators which I look up in a timeline history book. That way I can learn history as I'm doing mundane chores like shopping.
@@creamofcardstv I've seen a few of your videos where you talk about random combination where you can get novel ideas by putting random word together like some of the rock stars do.....The store receipts as random year generators is a good way to learn history.....It's always good to learn new knowledge.....:)
@@Bluelight176 Yeah, It's a fun way to learn the past, get chores done and form new ideas at the same time.
@@Bluelight176 Reminds me of grafting and splicing plants together. I always remember being amazed by the myriad of cacti mutations at village fairs in my youth.

Looking at RUclips.....comic books and Sports cards are very popular collectibles.....
I can't really comment on comics but the trading card market is a bit skewed towards specific narrow topics, such as sports, which makes me wonder whether people are more passionate about the money than collecting the cards themselves. I think you've got to have a healthy balance. Postcards are like a small but very bushy hedge of multi layered niche categories and sub-categories, which I think is a bit healthier, personally.
Could postcards be the most popular collectible.....?
It certainly was incredibly popular in the early 1900s plus it has local appeal because they provide a great photographic record of towns and villages etc. They're not really going to compete with other collectibles financially for individual items because it's a bit niche but it covers a lot of overlapping niches.
Therapist: Leupiuaopotard doesn't exist, it can't possibly hurt you. Leupiuaopotard:
It's a random shuffle :D
Love it!

Nice vintage beauties......that Toby Wing card looks a little like Jean Harlow .....at first I thought she was Jean Harlow than I saw it was Toby Wing. ......😊
Those vintage versions of the future space travel are great very facenating.....When are they dated from the Tenties or Thirties.....?
They are the post card version of the Golden Age of Hollywood........
Hi Leon.....it's been a long time... those are very beautiful cards in shade of blue......the imperfections adds to their character and art.......
Yeah, it reminds me of Bob Ross' happy accidents :D I like the idea of our mistakes being opportunities for better things, a bit like Alexander Fleming stumbling across his penicilin discovery by mistake. They didn't show Bob Ross' show over here on TV but I've been watching it on RUclips. It's quite calming and inspiring. My head's all over the place at the moment. My mother's got lots of illnesses, both mental and physical and the world seems to be going crazy too :D
My pokemon cards are all neatly organized in an album. It's in one of these boxes in my room, I'm sure. Or maybe in one of those drawers full of paper waste.
